FASHION TALKS

Uniform dressing

Over the past few decades, the way clothing and fashion has changed not only on the runways of fashion shows. the economic crisis of 2008 overshadowed the consumer hysteria of the early 2000s and its inherent brand mania and excesses. And today – with the wide variety of fashion – the season’s staple garments do not generate the same excitement among buyers. The abundance of choice has had the opposite effect: large numbers of people are beginning to gravitate more and more toward fashion asceticism.

This phenomenon is known as the “uniform”. Proponents of this style usually only add a certain number of specific clothing elements to their outfits, and this has not changed over the years. They may order 10-15 of the same white shirt at a time, or like Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg, they wear a “t-shirt/turtleneck + jeans” suit their entire lives. Others opt for more sophisticated combinations, but they haven’t changed over the years, like Karl Lagerfeld. the idea is not to waste your resources and time thinking about clothes at all. “I only wear gray and blue pantsuits because I don’t want to decide what to wear. I make too many other important decisions”, – says Barack Obama, who is also a strong supporter of the concept of uniform dress code.

Such outfits do not depend on trends and do not exude anything on their owners except for taste. The desire to look good, but at the same time emphasize neutrality, has really become a trend of this era.
