5 Essentials in Perfume Collecting
After consulting with the country’s leading perfumers, The Fashiongton Post’s editorial team has prepared the top five fragrance ingredients that every good perfume collection should contain.
Bergamot
Bergamot is essential in perfumery, it is almost always considered the main element of all fresh and intense perfumes, and is the only citrus fruit that is not found in food and is used exclusively in perfumery. It is not for nothing that perfumers consider this ingredient as the basis of the perfume base.
Patchouli
Patchouli plays an important role in perfumery, especially in Asia, as it is one of the signature scents of Indian culture. Not only does patchouli have a distinctive scent, it also has a feeling that permeates the emotional parts of the brain, which is why so many perfumes use patchouli to add a special flavor to a fragrance.
Vanilla
The vanilla comes from Mexico, but has long been used aggressively and far beyond its borders. Today, 80% of all perfumes contain a hint of vanilla. Like patchouli, it blends better with other ingredients and enhances other fragrance notes. Vanilla has a long history and a noble place in perfumery, so many perfumers use this scent in their creations.
Fresh Herbs
Freshly cut grass, stems, leaves, closed flower buds …… This is what adorns perfumes. Some are natural and some are synthetic. This is a wonderful reminder of nature and rebirth.
Leather
The smell of leather, like a new pair of boots or a leather jacket, is hard to reproduce in a perfume. Therefore, the perfumer used the best ingredients – resinous and burnt notes, similar to the smell of natural leather. The fragrance is both sexy and elegant, sensual and luxurious at the same time. Patchouli also works well with leather, so these two scents usually complement each other.
