TRENDS

Trust me – you’ll want to start wearing these 5 summer trends right away

Each season, we spend hours (and sometimes days) reviewing the looks from the New York Fashion Week shows to curate our highly anticipated trend reports. Honestly, we love creating them as much as you love reading them. But we also know that implementing runway trends into your everyday closet can be daunting. So this year, we went into a studio for the first time to style and photograph five of the best Spring/Summer 2023 trends. Not only are these trends editorial favorites, but they’re also very wearable (read: practical). Don’t worry – we’ll show you how it’s done.

Tie-dye? Summer? You’ve seen it before, but we’re not talking about a juvenile iteration reminiscent of a children’s art project – tie-dye is even more popular this season. Instead of paint splatters, consider using up to two or three shades in well-thought-out strokes. Jonathan Simkhai, Peter Do, and the beloved Prada were just a few designers who showed modern tie-dye pieces in their shows, and we’re here for it. Whether near the beach or not, we wore vacation-ready accessories like raffia sandals.

I love bold, eye-catching hues; summer 2023 is all about this bright cherry red. Of course, incorporating red accessories into your look is a breeze, but we’re not the type to take shortcuts. Instead, please bring it to the next level by wearing the head-to-toe red looks from the Victoria Beckham and Ferragamo shows. This Staud long dress makes work easy, but the addition of Simon Miller wood-soled shoes gives this look more personality.

Almost every primary designer showed crochet in some way this year. JThey all did: il sander, elie saab, victoria beckham, Maryam Nassir zadeh, chloé. Crochet has gotten an upgrade. Think more chic and less slutty. Be sure to bring this trend for your summer travels, but don’t be afraid to wear it around town, either. We’re keen on layering lots of gold (or rose gold!) jewelry to further elevate this casual fabric.

Speaking of gold, the metallic trend is taking over. Gabriella Hearst, Altuzarra, Tory Burch, and many more designers are proving that metallics are no longer reserved for festivals or formal events. We’re particularly fond of silver, but all shiny shades are fair game. Swap your jeans for silver jeans or a mini skirt (like we did here) to get your toes into the trend and keep the rest of your outfit neutral and simple.

With top fashion houses like Dior designing jeans, we’re seeing more and more cool denim trends. For Spring 2023, designers are making their stance clear: the looser the jeans, the better. This means choosing your favorite pair in your size or opting for styles that add volume (like balloon jeans). Since we love denim-on-denim moments, this Agolde set features an oversized top that feels just right. Stylish heels can elevate the look, but we won’t stop you if sneakers, loafers,, or even flat sandals are more your style.
